What we brought
What we can do
One big piece from printable panels
We cut a 1.2-metre bowl into panels our FDM printers could take, then rebuilt it whole.
How we look after you
Every panel knows its place
Each panel is printed with its grid position, so the team knew where every piece went.
What you get
Welded seams, tidied inside
Every seam is plastic-welded with a hot stapler, and the staple legs are ground down inside.

The brief

- 1200 mm across

- PLA, printed in parts and assembled
- Finish
- None, left plain white
At Additive Inn, our 3D printing studio in Singapore, we 3D printed an oversized hotpot bowl for an events company. They needed a twin-flavour pot 1200 mm across, split in two by an S-shaped divider, in plain white.
Concept
Step 2 of 5
The concept set out a shallow round bowl with a curved lower wall and one S-shaped divider running across it, kept plain so the 3D model could be cut into printable panels.
Fabrication
Step 3 of 5
We cut the 3D model on a grid into panels sized for our FDM printers and printed them in white PLA. Each panel carries its grid position, so the bowl goes back together in order.
Build and assembly
Step 4 of 5
We joined the panels with a hot stapler, melting metal staples across every seam, wall to wall and across the floor. Then we ground the staple legs down on the inside of the bowl.
The final build
Step 5 of 5
The bowl came together as one piece, 1200 mm across, in plain white PLA as ordered, with its S-shaped divider splitting it into two halves.
