    We design around the real object

    From Rezilienz's references, we modelled the ring to the microphone's handle, open at the top so it clips in.

  2. How we look after you

    You see it in 3D before we print

    Two rounds of renders, first in gold and then in silver, settled the look before printing.

  3. What you get

    A printed part that looks like metal

    The white ABS print was sanded, primed and electroplated to a mirror chrome; the grip went textured black.

At Additive Inn, our 3D printing studio in Singapore, we made a revolver-shaped microphone holder for Rezilienz. They sent references and asked us to design and 3D print a prop that holds a handheld wireless mic as its barrel.

Design and prototyping

We modelled the holder as a revolver frame, with an open ring shaped like the cylinder so the mic clips in. The renders show it from every side, with a stand-in mic, before any printing.

Production

Step 3 of 5

The holder was 3D printed in white ABS, then its supports were cleaned off ready for finishing.

Build and assembly

We deburred, sanded, filled, primed and buffed the print. The frame and cylinder ring were electroplated to a mirror chrome and the grip finished in textured matt black for a sure hold.

Rezilienz got a prop that holds their wireless mic as its barrel, the chrome ring round its handle and a finger resting in the trigger guard.
