Injection Molding

When you outgrow silicone molding (500+ identical units), injection molding takes over. We do the front-end design and DFM, partner with tooling shops for the run.

Injection Molding

What we make

  • 01

    DFM review

Remove undercuts, add draft, fix wall thickness, plan parting lines

  • 02

    Validation samples

3D-printed in production plastic before tool steel is cut

  • 03

    Material spec

Right plastic for mechanical, food-contact or optical use

  • 04

    Tooling partner

Vetted shops in Singapore, Malaysia, China by budget

  • 05

    First-article approval

Review first production-tool run before committing to volume

Injection molding is the right answer for 1,000+ identical units of the same part. The economics flip somewhere between 500 and 2,000 units depending on geometry.

We don’t run injection-mold tooling in-house, that’s a different kind of shop. What we do is the bridge: get your design through DFM review, produce validation samples, and hand off to a tooling partner with the work front-loaded.

Skip the months of back-and-forth on tooling drawings. We’ve taken parts from sketch to 50,000-unit production runs, and we know where the costs hide.

What's included
  • DFM (design-for-manufacturability) review
  • 3D-printed master and validation samples
  • Material selection consultation (ABS, PP, PE, PC)
  • Tooling-partner referral and management
  • First-article approval
  • Production-run quality checks
How we make it
  1. Part DFM review

Walk through draft angles, undercuts, wall thickness, and gate locations before tool steel gets cut. The cheapest tool is the one you don't have to re-cut.

  2. Tool design

Mold design with mold-flow simulation. Core, cavity, gates, runners, and ejector layout signed off before fabrication starts.

  3. Tool fabrication

5-axis CNC machining of hardened steel mold cavities. We manage the tooling partner in Singapore, Malaysia, or China depending on budget.

  4. Trial shots

First-article parts inspected against drawing tolerances. Adjust gate timing, pack pressure, and cooling before approving the run.

  5. Production run

Full production batch with QC sampling. Parts shipped to your facility or held at our workshop for downstream assembly.

Frequently asked

At what quantity does injection molding actually make sense?

Injection molding pays off at roughly 1,000 or more identical units of the same part. Below that, silicone molding from S$300 per mold is usually cheaper, and the economics flip somewhere between 500 and 2,000 units depending on geometry. Send us your part and projected volume and we will tell you honestly which process wins for your numbers.

Do you run the injection molding in-house or send it out?

We do the bridge work, not the molding itself, since high-volume tooling is a different kind of shop. We handle DFM review, 3D-printed validation samples in the actual production plastic (ABS, PP, PC), material spec, and first-article approval, then manage a vetted tooling partner in Singapore, Malaysia, or China depending on your budget and timeline. You get one point of contact instead of months of back-and-forth on tooling drawings.

I have a 3D-printed prototype. How do I move it to a real production run?

Start with a DFM review so we can fix undercuts, add draft angles, and sort out wall thickness before any tool steel gets cut, because the cheapest tool is the one you do not have to re-cut. We then print validation samples in the production material so you can pressure-test the design, sign off the mold design with mold-flow simulation, and inspect first-article trial shots against drawing tolerances. We have taken parts from sketch to 50,000-unit runs this way.

Should I do silicone molding or injection molding for a few hundred parts?

For 20 to 500 units, silicone molding is the right call: tooling starts at S$300 per mold with a per-cast charge after that, and no expensive steel tool to amortise. Once you need 500 to 1,000 plus identical units the steel-tool cost of injection molding spreads thin enough to win on per-part price. Tell us your annual volume and we will steer you to the cheaper route rather than oversell the tooling.
