What we brought
What we can do
From a 2D drawing to a part you can hold
We turned each cross-section in the client's die drawings into a 3D model of a length of extrusion, ready to print.
How we look after you
Checked before printing
The client reviewed a mock-up of all seventeen profiles before anything was printed, and approved it the same day.
What you get
Sized to the deadline
We agreed a 180 mm length with the client so all seventeen could be printed in time for the presentation.

The brief

- Seventeen, one sample of each
- Started from
- The client's 2D die drawings (DXF)
- Material
- Grey PLA, raw print finish
- Use
- Indoor presentation and desk samples
At Additive Inn, our 3D printing studio in Singapore, we turn 2D drawings into parts. LHL International needed samples of seventeen aluminium extrusion profiles for a presentation. We were to model each profile from the client's 2D die drawings, 3D print one of each and remove the supports, as desk samples with the print left raw.
Design and prototyping
Step 2 of 5 · 27/02/2026
We extruded each cross-section in the die drawings into a 3D model, taking the drawings as 1:1. The first plan was 200 mm lengths. To print all seventeen in time, we agreed with the client to make each one 180 mm long.
A mock-up of the seventeen models went to the client on 27 February. The client asked for grey and approved the models the same afternoon.

Production
Step 3 of 5 · 02/03/2026
The profiles were printed in grey PLA on our FDM printers. Eleven of the seventeen were done by the morning of 2 March, and the last one came off the printer on the evening of 3 March.
Clean-up and packing
Step 4 of 5 · 03/03/2026
The supports were removed from each profile, leaving the raw print finish the client asked for. The seventeen samples were packed in two bags at our self-collection area.
The final build
Step 5 of 5 · 03/03/2026
The client's driver collected all seventeen samples on the evening of 3 March: grey extrusion profiles, each 180 mm long and modelled from its die drawing, ready for the presentation.
