A Use the Force bathroom sign: a Darth Vader figure and lettering, 3D printed raised in black on a white plate.

How it is made
FDM 3D printed in black and white

What we brought

  1. What we can do

A joke that reads at a glance

Bold black shapes on white make the figure and the words clear from the doorway.

  2. How we look after you

    Raised detail you can see

The figure, lettering and frame stand off the plate, so every edge throws a small shadow.

  3. What you get

Colour in the plastic, not on it

The black and white come from the plastic itself, so there is no paint to chip.

At Additive Inn, our 3D printing studio in Singapore, we made a Star Wars fan sign for a bathroom door. It needed a joke that reads at a glance: a Darth Vader figure on the toilet over the words Use the Force.

Production

Step 2 of 4

The figure, the words and the rounded frame were 3D printed in black, raised off a white plate. Up close, the print lines show on every edge.

The raised black lettering, up close.
Lettering and frame corner, raised off the plate.
The figure's boot above the lettering rule.
The rounded frame beside the helmet.

On the door

Step 3 of 4

The sign went up on the frosted panel of a sliding bathroom door, where the raised black reads clearly against the white.

The final build

Step 4 of 4

A finished bathroom sign with a Star Wars joke, the black figure and lettering crisp against the white plate.
