These are eight custom tooth trophies we made for Thrive Pte Ltd, to congratulate CD Capital on the completion of Project Enamel. Each one is a 150 mm tall tooth, 3D printed in SLA resin, painted silver and printed on the front with both companies' logos and a short message in black.
The brief
Thrive sent us a concept picture of a silver tooth award. The trophy had to stand on its own, with no base, and carry both logos clearly on the front. Thrive needed eight of them, all the same.
How we made it
We modelled the tooth in 3D from Thrive’s picture. A tooth is hard to balance, so we gave it four roots, which let it sit level on a flat surface without tipping. We sent the first design two days after the scope was agreed.
The design went through three revisions. In the first, Thrive asked for bigger artwork placed higher on the tooth, so we enlarged it to about 80 by 67 mm. That is as large as it can go while staying clear of the curved edges, where the print could warp. We also showed a version with the logos in colour. In the second, Thrive chose black and asked for a slimmer CD Capital logo, so we made it about 2 mm thinner to match the style of the Thrive logo. The design was approved the same day.
We printed the eight trophies in SLA resin, which gives a smooth, even surface on rounded shapes like this. Each one was cleaned up, primed, then painted silver. The logos and message were UV printed straight onto the curved, painted front.
All eight were ready for collection on 20 August, under two weeks after the design was approved.
