What we can do
An heirloom finish, painted in layers
We painted the racket by hand in layers of aged bronze, so it reads as a cast heirloom.

The extras you ask for, built in
At approval, Latham asked for the event badge as a thick coin and for a removable plate. We built both.

The plate comes out for engraving, so each year's champions join the same trophy.

The brief
Step 1 of 5
At Additive Inn, our 3D printing studio in Singapore, we made a perpetual trophy for Latham & Watkins' Latham Corporate Padel Tournament. It had to have presence, be built on a real padel racket, carry the event badge and take a new engraving every year.
Design
Step 2 of 5
On approval, Latham's brand team sent the event badge. We turned it into a thick coin the size of a padel ball, and laid out a removable plate with the firm's name, the tournament title and rows for winners.

Production
Step 3 of 5
We 3D printed the base and smoothed it to a clean black finish, made the badge coin and primed the racket ready for paint.
Build and assembly
Step 4 of 5
One of our artists painted the racket by hand in layers of aged bronze, mottled and burnished, the layered look Latham asked for. We set the coin at the throat, mounted the racket on the base and fitted the plate.
The final build
Step 5 of 5
The finished trophy: an antique bronze racket with the event badge at its throat, on a black base carrying the Latham & Watkins name and the tournament title.
