Quick-Release Tablet Mount for a Remote Controller
A quick-release mount that carries a tablet screen above Sanxing's handheld remote controller, designed around the real controller and 3D printed in carbon-fibre PETG.
- Client
- Sanxing
- Design time
- 24 hours of design and development
- Quick release
- A magnetic dovetail coupler lets the screen come off by hand
- Adjustable
- A hinge sets the screen angle; a clamp grips the controller
What we brought
What we can do
We design around your own equipment
We measured Sanxing's controller in our studio and fitted the printed mount to it before handing it back.
How we look after you
You see every part before it is made
Two rounds of labelled renders showed Sanxing each part, its material and how it fits.
What you get
A mount that works like part of the remote
Black carbon-fibre PETG, an adjustable hinge and a magnetic quick release, made for handheld use.

The build
How we built it
5 steps, from the brief to the finished piece. Pick a step to jump to it.
The brief
Step 1 of 5 · 15/04/2026
- Controller
- Sanxing's handheld radio remote, measured in our studio
- Screen
- A tablet in a ready-made mounting cradle
- Release
- The screen must come off quickly
At Additive Inn, our 3D printing studio in Singapore, we designed a mount for Sanxing's handheld remote controller. Sanxing needed a tablet screen held above the controller's own display, at an angle the operator can set, and quick to take off.
Design & prototyping
Step 2 of 5 · 29/04/2026
We measured the controller and modelled a mount between it and the tablet cradle: a clamp on the controller, a hinge to set the angle, magnets in a dovetail for quick release, and a path to tidy the cable.

Production
Step 3 of 5
We 3D printed the clamp, hinge blocks, arm and coupler in matte black carbon-fibre PETG on our FDM printers: stiff enough to hold the tablet steady, light enough to carry on a handheld remote.
Build & assembly
Step 4 of 5 · 30/04/2026
We pressed the magnets into the coupler, fitted the metal hinge and screws, and set the mount on Sanxing's controller to check the clamp, the screen angle and the release.
The final build
Step 5 of 5 · 17/07/2026
Sanxing's controller now carries its screen on a black mount that matches the remote. The hinge sets the angle, and the screen comes off at the magnetic coupler, leaving the controller free.
How it works
