What we brought

  1. What we can do

    Fine detail in thin walls

Antlers, window frames, pine needles and snowflakes are all printed in a shade thin enough to glow.

  2. How we look after you

A scene that runs all the way round

Pine trees, a house, a deer family and a gift box each get a side.

  3. What you get

Printed on our own FDM printers

Plain white filament, printed thin, turns warm and soft once the light is on.

The brief

Step 1 of 4

Scene
Pine trees, a house, a deer family, a gift box, stars and snowflakes
Light
Glows from inside, through the shade

At Additive Inn, our 3D printing studio in Singapore, we 3D printed a Christmas lamp. It needed a whole winter scene in one shade: pine trees, a house, a deer family, a gift box and snowflakes, with light glowing through every gap.

Production

Step 2 of 4

The shade was FDM printed in white, thin enough for light to pass through, with the whole scene cut out of its wall. Even the fine print lines show once it is lit.

Windows, antlers and fine print lines.

Build and assembly

Step 3 of 4

The printed shade sits on its round base, which lights it from inside.

The shade on its round base.

The final build

Step 4 of 4

Switched on in the dark, the lamp glows warm through every cut-out, and the scene changes as you walk round it: trees and house on one side, the deer family and a gift box on the other.

The deer family in front.
