Transparent Embossed Dome

Transparent Embossed Dome

A customer needed a transparent domed part for an adapter, so we printed it in a specialised clear resin. The dome carries an embossed panel of raised studs on its face, and the whole part had to stay genuinely see-through, not the frosted, cloudy grey that clear prints often end up as. Two units were produced, printed and finished to match.

Printed clear, not cloudy

True transparency is one of the harder things to ask of a 3D print. Standard resins yellow or haze, and every surface flaw shows up twice because you look through the part as well as at it. We used a specialised clear resin and a careful clean-and-cure routine, keeping the surfaces smooth and the material water-clear so the embossed detail reads crisply inside the dome.

Function first

The shape is not decorative. The domed profile, the stepped edges and the raised stud pattern are all there to suit the customer’s adapter, so the part fits and works the way they needed. It is a simple example of what our clear-resin printing does well: a one-off functional part, made transparent because the job called for it.
