From the side: the logo stands 74 mm off the wall and the letters 50 mm, so the light has room to spread.

PSA wanted its logo to light up the feature wall of its office: the logo mark and the letters P, S and A, about two metres across, standing off a fluted wooden panel with a warm halo of light behind every edge. It had to read clearly by day, glow in the evening, and show no screws, cables or brackets.

The brief

The sign had to sit exactly over an existing opening in the wall, where the power cable already came through, and fix securely into a slatted wooden wall without spoiling it. The office stays in use, so all site work happened over a weekend. And because it is PSA's brand, the 3D logo had to match the artwork exactly.

How we made it

We started from PSA’s logo file and modelled it in 3D for printing. Each revision went to PSA as a short deck with a live 3D model their team could turn in a browser, which settled questions about depth, angles and how the logo’s swooshes overlap far faster than flat renders. The design went through seven revisions, including a size study from the original size up to 35% bigger, weighed against what the partition wall behind it could carry. The swooshes now sit in layers on top of one another, with shaped tops where they cross, as PSA’s design team asked.

Every piece, the logo 74 mm deep and the letters 50 mm, was printed in our studio in carbon-fibre PETG (PETG-CF), which stays stiff and flat at this size. Each has pockets for strong magnets and its own wire hole. LED strip runs behind each outline, so the light spills evenly onto the wood instead of showing hot spots. The set was finished in brushed gold, matched to a sample PSA approved first.

Installing it

On site, a full-size paper template marked the position and the fixing points first. A 3 mm steel plate went onto the wall with 16 anchors, laid out to cover the existing opening, and each letter and the logo then clicked onto it on 28 hidden N52 magnets. Nothing is screwed through the face, and any piece lifts off by hand if the lights ever need servicing. The LED drivers sit behind a flush access panel, so they can be reached without taking the sign down.

The result is a sign that looks solid and quiet by day and turns warm in the evening, with the halo doing the work.
