What we can do
A landmark turned into a product
The Moai's brow, long nose and ears carry over, and the nose becomes the tissue opening.
How we look after you
Two parts, one clean seam
The head prints in two parts that meet in a fine line across the mouth.
What you get
Tested with real tissues
We pulled tissues through the nose opening one after another to check they come out cleanly.

The brief
Step 1 of 4
- Shape
- A Moai head on its own base, with brow, nose and ears
- Tissue opening
- Under the nose, through the front of the head
- Finish
- Bronze, darkening to black in the recesses
At Additive Inn, our 3D printing studio in Singapore, we 3D printed a tissue holder shaped like a Moai, the stone heads of Easter Island. It had to hold tissues inside and let each one pull out through the nose.
Production
Step 2 of 4
The head was 3D printed in two parts that meet across the mouth, with the opening under the nose running through to the hollow inside.
Build and assembly
Step 3 of 4
With the two parts together and tissues inside, we pulled them through the nose one after another to check each came out cleanly.
The final build
Step 4 of 4
The finished Moai stands on its own base in bronze and black, a tissue ready under its nose.
