At Additive Inn, our 3D printing studio in Singapore, we took on an art commission for a private customer. The customer wanted three canvases, each with a Porsche body set into it with real depth, alive from any angle.
Production
Step 2 of 4
Each Porsche body was 3D printed at high resolution to keep its clean lines and curves. Each was printed in several parts, reinforced inside, then sanded and primed to a smooth surface ready for paint.
Finishing and mounting
Step 3 of 4
We primed and painted each canvas a solid base colour, then layered splatter over it for a sense of motion around the car. Each body was painted in high gloss and fixed to its canvas on a hidden mount, so it seems to float.
The final build
Step 4 of 4
The finished pieces join sculpture and canvas in one artwork, with the Porsche body as the centrepiece. Each canvas has its own contrasting colourway, finished in gloss for a home, showroom or brand space.
