Spring-Loaded Quick-Release Rail

A slotted mounting rail with a spring-loaded quick-release latch. A part slides onto the rail and the sprung tongue clicks it home; push the tongue back against the spring and the part lifts straight off. No tools, no fasteners to undo, just a positive click on and a slide to release, which is exactly what you want on something mounted and dismounted over and over.

Printed to take a load

A quick-release rail earns its keep only if it stays rigid and shrugs off wear, so we printed it in carbon-fibre reinforced polycarbonate. PC is one of the toughest, most heat-resistant filaments going, and the chopped carbon fibre adds stiffness and dimensional stability on top, so the rail holds its shape under load, the latch keeps its snap, and the sliding faces resist wearing loose. It gives the part its dense matte-black, lightly speckled finish too.

How it works

The mechanism is simple and robust: a captive slider runs in a channel, a steel compression spring pushes it into the latched position, and a single screw holds the slider in its track while letting it travel. The gallery shows it from every side with the spring seated in its pocket, and the short clip runs the latch through its click-in and slide-to-release cycle.
