Raspberry Pi Zero Enclosure

A compact enclosure we designed and printed to protect a client’s Raspberry Pi Zero. The board sits in a shaped base, a lid slides across the top to close it up, and every connector stays reachable through its own opening, so the device runs fully assembled without ever opening the case.

Built around the board

The case is modelled to the Raspberry Pi Zero exactly. The board locates on posts that line up with its mounting holes, the walls sit close so nothing shifts, and openings are cut for the power and USB micro sockets, the mini HDMI and the micro SD card slot. Slide the lid off and the whole board, including the GPIO header, is there to work on. Slide it back and everything is covered.

Printed in carbon-fibre PETG

We printed both halves in carbon-fibre reinforced PETG. Plain PETG is already tough and a little forgiving, and the chopped carbon fibre stiffens it and holds its dimensions, which matters for a lid that has to slide the same way every time and a base that has to grip the board without warping. It gives the parts their dense matte-black, lightly textured finish too, and there is custom branding embossed straight into the lid.

A custom case beats a generic one

Off-the-shelf Pi cases fit the board but not the job. Because we drew this one from scratch, we could size it to the client’s exact device, place the openings only where they are needed, keep it slim, and finish it in a material that stands up to real handling. That is the point of a custom enclosure: it fits the product it is protecting, not the other way round.
