- Light
- LEDs inside, so the whole maze glows
- Power
- A rechargeable battery, swapped without tools
- Quantity
- Two finished pieces
At Additive Inn, our 3D printing studio in Singapore, we designed and made a ball maze shaped like a Hennessy V.S.O.P bottle, as an appreciation gift. Hennessy sent references and wanted it lit from inside on a rechargeable battery.
Design
Step 2 of 5
We modelled the bottle from Hennessy's references and designed it for printing: maze channels sized for the ball, a pocket for the LEDs, a battery bay underneath and a handle on each side. Hennessy had two rounds of minor changes.
Production
Step 3 of 5
We 3D printed the maze body in brand red and the base and handles in black. The clear acrylic face carries the Hennessy logo and rider emblem in white, and screws down over the maze.
Build and assembly
Step 4 of 5
We fitted the LEDs and the battery bay into the base, then the steel ball, the acrylic face and the handles. Magnets hold the battery cover, so it lifts off by hand.
The final build
Step 5 of 5
Hennessy received two finished mazes. Switched on, the whole bottle glows red behind the white branding; switched off, the red maze shows through the clear face. Guests hold the handles and tilt it to steer the ball.
