Coin-Sized Princess Miniature

A princess miniature that stands about the size of a coin, resin printed and painted entirely by hand. One photo in the gallery says it all: the raw grey print standing next to a coin for scale. Every umbrella rib, every twist of the rope belt and every strand of the headdress survived at that scale, and then the paint brought her to life.

Detail you can barely see

This is what SLA resin printing is for. The paper umbrella has individually printed ribs, the sash knots wrap believably around the waist, and swirls of smoke coil from the base right up past her shoulders. Printing this small leaves no room for error: a single blemish would swallow a feature, so the print has to come out of the machine essentially perfect.

Painting at miniature scale

The paintwork is where the piece earns its place on this page. Working under magnification, the robes were built up in soft purples with a silk-like sheen, the smoke shaded from grey through green and blue, and the tiny face given a calm, finished expression. The base glows like embers underfoot, fading from bright orange out to charcoal. It is patient, steady-handed work, and it turns a thumb-sized print into a display piece.
