Leaf Casting Mould

Leaf Casting Mould

A reusable silicone mould that casts six leaves at a time. We started by 3D printing a leaf master with its shape and veins built in, then cast clear, flexible silicone around it to pick up every detail. The result is a soft, translucent tool with six leaf cavities, ready to turn out identical leaves again and again.

From a printed master to a silicone tool

Making a good mould starts with a good master. We modelled and 3D printed the leaf, veins and all, so the shape that gets copied is crisp and consistent. Casting silicone around that master captures the fine detail and gives a mould that flexes, so finished pieces pop out cleanly without damage. Because it is one master repeated across six cavities, every leaf comes out the same.

Built to be used again and again

Silicone is the right material for a mould like this: it is flexible, durable and releases easily, so it stands up to repeated casting. The six-cavity layout means six leaves per pour, which makes short production runs quick. It is a simple, practical example of our moulding and casting work, turning a 3D-printed master into a tool that makes many copies.
