Faceted Laser-Cut Building Model

A concept architecture model of a low-rise, faceted building, built almost entirely from laser-cut plywood. Angular wings wrap a central courtyard behind screens of fine diamond latticework, open roof grids reveal the structure, and a 3D-printed red maze sits at the heart of the plan, all on a landscaped base of lawns and paths.

How we made it

Laser cutting carries this model. Every facade screen, floor plate, window frame and roof beam was cut and scored from thin plywood on our laser, the only practical way to get the repeating diamond lattice crisp and consistent at this scale. We left the ply raw so the warm timber reads as the building’s structure.

The parts were assembled level by level into the faceted massing, with the bright red courtyard maze 3D-printed as a contrast to the wood. It is a good example of how laser cutting and 3D printing combine on a single architectural piece, from cut sheet to finished model.
