A scale model of the CO2 Rail concept train, built as a display piece. It pairs a liveried locomotive with a carbon-capture tank car, the tank clad in solar panels and topped by twin storage pods. The whole thing was modelled in CAD, 3D printed in resin and hand-painted, then assembled from dozens of separate parts into two finished vehicles.
From CAD to a printed model
A model like this starts as a full CAD build, every panel, bogie and railing drawn to scale. We printed the parts in resin: the long tank and locomotive bodies, the running gear, the fine handrails and detail fittings. Printing each vehicle as a set of separate parts, rather than one solid block, is what lets the finished model carry the detail of the real thing, from the sprung bogies to the walkway railings.
Livery, panels and finish
The paint is where the concept comes to life. The locomotive wears a green, blue and grey wave livery, the colours blended cleanly across the body. The tank car is finished in bright green with the CO2 Rail branding and a full run of solar panels along its top. Hand-painting and careful assembly turn a stack of printed parts into a presentation model that shows the idea at a glance.
