The brief

Step 1 of 6

Display: Clear acrylic case

At Additive Inn, our 3D printing studio in Singapore, we made a fairytale castle trophy for Supercoach Academy. They had a concept image of a pastel castle on an island and needed it turned into a real trophy, carrying the academy's name.

Concept

Step 2 of 6

We drew the palette straight from the reference: lilac, sand, pinks, cream and pale blue.

Design and prototyping

Step 3 of 6

We sculpted the castle, island, coral trees and floating clouds in 3D and showed them from every side. The tent-shaped nameplate and its lettering were sized to the model, and every part was matched to a Pantone swatch.

Production

Step 4 of 6

We split the model into parts for 3D printing, keyed with joint holes and pins so the castle, island and base fit together cleanly.

Build and assembly

Step 5 of 6

Each part was primed, then painted by hand to our Pantone colour sheet. The clouds went up on clear rods, the name and logo were UV printed on the nameplate, and the castle was set on its iridescent base inside a clear acrylic case.

The finished castle stands on an iridescent base, its clouds floating on clear rods, with the Supercoach Academy nameplate in front and a clear acrylic case over it all.
