What we brought
Matching the original
We copy your instrument down to the screws
Drawn to the instrument's own sizes, with real screws, labelled back panels and feet that stack like the real units.
Checked before printing
You see the whole design before we print
Merck checked drawings of both units over two rounds before anything was printed.
What came next
Good enough to be ordered again from abroad
After the first set, Merck's team in Korea asked who made the replicas and ordered their own.

The brief
Step 1 of 5
- Use
- Training, display and demonstration, not working units
At Additive Inn, our 3D printing studio in Singapore, we made true-to-size replicas of Merck's MAST Master Controller and MAST Sample Navigator for training and display. We worked from Merck's photos and measurements, matching sizes, branding and labels.
Design & fitment
Step 2 of 5
We drew both units to size for Merck to check: the Master Controller's handles, stacking legs and back panel, and the Sample Navigator's five sample ports. The second round set every screw hole for a real screw.
Fabrication
Step 3 of 5
We printed each enclosure in sections to keep it true to size, then filled the gaps, sanded out the print lines and primed it repeatedly until the surface was smooth enough to paint. Both sets were made and assembled in our studio.
Build and assembly
Step 4 of 5
We painted the primed enclosures blue and the front and back plates silver, then screwed every panel together. The connectors, ports and carry handles went on next, and the logos and labels were applied by sticker and engraving.
The final build
Step 5 of 5
Both replicas were finished with every label in place, ready for training and display. The Korea set went into production in September 2026.
The details
The likeness is in the labels and hardware: stickers and engraving over a finished surface, and a real screw in every screw hole.
