Color Application

Colorful hand-painted miniature figure of a warrior in elaborate armor holding two swords, standing on a black and gray circular base, with a potted plant with green leaves on a wooden stand in the background.

Precision Takes Time

Applying color to 3D-printed parts isn’t just about painting — it’s a multi-step process that requires time, skill, and the right materials to ensure a clean, durable, and professional finish.

Our customers are in good hands — every painted part is handled by our team with a combined total of 3 decades of industry expertise. From prepping to finishing, our painters understand the nuances of materials, colors, and finishes, ensuring that every project is treated with precision, consistency, and care. Whether it's a single prototype or a full production run, we take pride in delivering results that meet the highest standards.

Here is how we do it.

Colorful, three-dimensional painting of an octopus with a yellow and orange head, blue eyes, and swirling tentacles, set against a dark background with a decorative golden crown design at the bottom.
  1. Surface Preparation

    • Each part is cleaned, sanded, and primed to remove print lines and residues. This it to ensure proper paint adhesion and finish.

  2. Base Coating

    • A uniform base coat is applied to create a consistent surface for color layering.

  3. Color Application

    • We use high-quality paints (spray paint, airbrush and handbrush) for even, streak-free coverage.

    • Multiple layers are often needed for full opacity and depth.

  4. Detailing (if required)

    • Fine detailing is done by hand for logos, patterns, or color separation areas.

  5. Finishing Coat

    • A clear coat may be applied for protection (matte, satin, or gloss finish depending on the project).
