Concept to Fabrication

Take an idea from sketch on a napkin to a finished unit ready for review or production. We do design, prototyping, printing, finishing, and assembly end to end.

Concept to Fabrication

Capabilities

  • 3D modelling and CAD from brief
  • 3D scanning (handheld and structured-light)
  • Reverse engineering from physical samples
  • Design for manufacturability
  • Multi-process production (FDM, SLA, SLS, CNC, laser, mold)
  • In-house finishing and color application
  • Small-batch assembly and packaging

What we make

  • CAD from brief

Sketch, photo or sample built into manufacturable geometry

  • 3D scanning

Reverse-engineer parts and artworks to watertight mesh

  • Multi-process build

FDM, SLA, CNC and silicone molding per part

  • Finish & assemble

Sand, paint, electroplate, assemble, package as one unit

  • Small-batch runs

    10 to 500 units without injection-mold tooling

How we make it

  1. Concept brief

Bring a sketch, a problem, or a reference. We come back with a design proposal and a process recommendation, not a blank-cheque quote.

  2. CAD & engineering

Geometry built against manufacturing constraints up front, so we don't print parts that can't be assembled.

  3. Prototype

Pick the right process per part, FDM for cost, SLA for fine detail, CNC for metal, then print a working unit fast.

  4. Iterate & validate

Real-world test, feedback, refine. Most jobs go through 2–3 iterations before the final unit lands.

  5. Finish & deliver

Sand, paint, assemble, and package. The unit ships ready to present, pitch, or hand to a manufacturer.

Most studios stop at the print. We don’t. Concept to Fabrication is our end-to-end track for clients who want a finished unit, not an STL file with a plastic part attached.

3D scanning service in Singapore

If your starting point is a physical object, not a sketch, we can 3D scan it at our Bendemeer workshop. Handheld scanning for small/medium parts (tolerance to ±0.1mm), structured-light for higher precision on smaller objects. The scan becomes a watertight mesh you can either print directly or hand to a CAD designer for re-modelling. Common use cases: replicating a discontinued spare part, capturing a hand-sculpted artwork for production, or digitising heritage objects for archival.

What it doesn’t replace

If you already have CAD ready to print and you just want one unit, order direct. Concept to Fabrication is overkill.

If you’re producing 5,000+ identical parts, you’ll want injection molding (we can do the master and refer the volume run).

Frequently asked

Can you design a product if I only have a sketch or a sample, not CAD files?

Yes. Bring a sketch, a photo, a reference, or a physical sample and we build the CAD geometry for you in Fusion 360, Rhino or Blender, checked against manufacturing constraints up front so nothing prints that can't be assembled. If you only have a physical object, we 3D scan it at our Bendemeer workshop into a watertight mesh ready to print or re-model. A 24-hour quote turnaround applies once we agree the design direction.

Do you do reverse engineering and 3D scanning in Singapore?

Yes, both run at our 994 Bendemeer Road studio. Handheld scanning covers small and medium parts to within plus or minus 0.1mm, and structured-light scanning handles higher precision on smaller objects, common for replicating a discontinued spare part or digitising a hand-sculpted artwork. The scan becomes a watertight mesh you can print directly or hand to a CAD designer for full re-modelling.

Can you both design and manufacture the parts, or just the CAD?

We do both, design through finished unit, by one team. Production picks the right process per part: FDM from S$0.10 to S$0.30 per gram, SLA resin S$0.30 to S$0.80 per gram for fine detail, CNC machining from S$80 per part to plus or minus 0.05mm, and silicone molding from S$300 per mold for 20 to 500 unit runs. We finish, assemble and package it too, so it ships ready to present or pitch.

How much does end-to-end product development cost and how long does it take?

Every project is quoted per design, since a single hero prototype is priced very differently from a 200-unit batch. We return a design proposal and a price after the brief, usually within 24 hours, and standard production runs 5 to 7 working days once approved. Most jobs go through 2 to 3 iterations before the final unit lands, and you can self-collect at Bendemeer or have it couriered islandwide.
