Rhino Trophy

We developed a rhino trophy for The 5th Singapore Infantry Brigade to be given as a token of appreciation for one of their members. They provided the design for the rhino piece as well as the art for the background, both of which we helped modify to be assembled together. The base was designed from scratch to display the metal name plate and to hold the casing around the rhino model.

Concept

The client provided files of the backdrop art and the 3D Rhino model and requested for 2 trophies to be made—one in gold and one in silver. They asked for the torso to be shortened and wanted a casing to display to rhino in, a base for the rhino to stand on and a name plate at the front.

Designing

We modified the rhino model as requested by the client and shortened the model in a CAD software. The eyes were also given more definition. We created the base from scratch with an extrusion around the bottom to hold the casing and added a recessed area at the front for the metal name plate to be displayed.

Client Review

Then, a digital preview of the model was sent to the client to help them visualise how their product would look and how it would be assembled before it was 3D printed. During the client review stage, we send all clients a comprehensive document they can refer to for crucial information about the model such as measurements, colour application, material finishes and assembly.

3D Printing

Once the final design was approved by the client, it was sent for 3D printing

Finishing

After the model was 3D printed, each piece was sanded down to give it a smooth finish. The pieces were then spray-painted and assembled to create the rhino trophy.
