LTA MRT Construction Phase Mockup

For this project, the client needed a detailed construction phase mockup to showcase the underground MRT development process. The model had to show soil layers, structural reinforcement, tunnel segments, and above-ground city elements in a clear and educational format. It needed clean detailing, strong internal support, and reliable lighting for exhibition use.

High Detail Layering With Multi-Material Fabrication

We built the entire cross-section through a combination of 3D printing, hand-textured surfaces, and precision-cut inserts. The soil strata were created using a textured finishing process to achieve a realistic cross-section profile. Structural components such as retaining walls, tunnel rings, and utility ducts were printed separately for sharper geometry and consistent alignment.

Each printed element was refined through sanding, priming, and controlled painting to achieve clean edges and accurate contrast. The above-ground structures, including buildings, greenery, and roadways, were fabricated in batches to maintain consistent scale across the display.

The lighting system was integrated within the base. LED modules were installed behind protective panels and positioned to highlight key construction stages without glare or uneven shadows. Internal reinforcements were added to support the acrylic enclosure and protect the model during transport.

The Result: A Clear and Engaging Construction Phase Showcase

The completed mockup provides a realistic and structured view of the MRT construction process. The layered textures, detailed components, and integrated lighting help audiences understand each stage clearly. This model is suitable for exhibitions, stakeholder presentations, and long term educational displays.
