CNC Machining

Computer Numerical Control (CNC) is a contact-based 3D printing service that uses a drill to cut high depths of material around the part to achieve the desired design using friction.

About Computer Numerical Control:

  • Like every other manufacting method, there are pros and cons that come along with it:

    Pros:

    1. Cost-effective and affordable

    2. Wide selection of materials* to choose from

    Cons:

    1. Minor visible tool markings

    2. Slightly rough surfaces

materials*: Metals are best for CNC (they have higher stiffness and melting temperatures as compared to plastic)

  • 2D drawing files are more preferred over CAD files if you would like to utilise CNC machining service to produce your parts.

Click here on how to prepare your 2D files before sending it to us!

  • Once your parts have been printed, you should expect to see precise cuts and edges, and sometimes some visible tool markings.

  • There are a few types of objects designs that you could produce using CNC maching as your manufacturing method. Some of the most common applications using CNC machining are:

    1. Machine tools

      • Bearings, gears

    2. Lettering

      • Engraving, silkscreening

  • For larger-scale projects where accuracy is more essential, CNC machining is considered a superior option as it achieves exceptional accuracy and excellent consistency during production.
